How free fields work in Warpspeed

There are different types of free fields in Warpspeed.

First, there exist five Free Text fields for many of the entities in Warpspeed. These fields can be used for storing additional data.

Then there is also the possibility of creating dynamic free fields. This functionality is only available in Master Data > Items at this time. To create a dynamic field, open an item and click on Configure Additional Fields in the top right corner. Next, click Add and follow the instructions at the top of the screen.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both field types.

The Free Text fields are part of the grid settings, which means that they can be displayed in the overview screens. The downside is that it is not possible to rename these fields.

By contrast, dynamic fields can be named to your liking. You can also group multiple dynamic fields together by classifying them under the same Field Group, which can lead to a better overview.

Dynamic fields are not part of the columns in the grid settings. It is therefore not possible to display these fields in the item overview.
