What functions do the various classification types have?
Classifications and classification types are not hard-coded, which means you can define them as preferred.
All classifications fall into the categories Stock or Item. These two categories are predefined: stock classifications always function at the stock level, whereas item classifications function at the item or item group level.
The structure of classifications, then, is as follows:
Category | Type | Classification |
Item | A | A |
B | ||
B | C | |
D | ||
Stock | C | E |
F | ||
D | G | |
H |
Linking classifications to policies
You can automize the application of classifications via Business > Policies by linking Classification filters and Classification modifiers to policies. These can be made to apply to specific items or item groups, or to the entire item base.
Select a policy and click Edit or double-click the policy. Go to the tab Item Specific Settings. Select an existing layer or creat a new layer by clicking on Add Item or Add Item Group.
NB Every policy contains the standard layer All Items. The settings in this layer will be applied to all items and item groups, irrespective of any existing policy layers for specific items or item groups.
In Enter Policy > Classification Filters, click the Add button to add a filter, or in Classification Modification to add a modification.
You can use classification filters to filter items and/or item groups. Based on these filters, you can either allow (checkmark icon) or block (cross icon) items and/or item groups. Furthermore, you can block any unclassified stock by turning on the setting Reject classificationless stock fragments.
Similary, by adding classification modifications to a policy, you can ensure that classifications are automatically added to (checkmark icon) or removed from (cross icon) items and item groups.
Linking classifications to items and stock fragments
Item
You can link an Item classification to an item via Master Data > Items > Edit > Item Aspects > Item Classifications > Add item classification. This works the same way for Item Groups.
Stock
There are several ways to assign Stock classifications to license plates or stock fragments.
Per fragment
In Applets > Stock Manager, open a stock fragment or license plate. Go to Details > Stock Fragment and open a stock fragment.
Under Classifications, click Add.
Select a classification and click OK.
Batch classification
In Stock Manager, select one or more fragments or license plates – these will constitute the batch – and click Batch Classifications.
In the subsequent Classification Batch Edit screen, you can (un)check one or more classifications on the right hand side. Click Save to apply the changes to the entire batch.
