Maintenance & Security Update: Server Connectivity

Periodically, software updates are installed on the App4Sales servers. This is done to keep our systems as secure as possible and protect data against malicious intruders.

Recently, monthly patches were installed on the App4Sales servers. As a result, certain security settings that are generally no longer considered secure have been disabled.

Following this update, App4Sales could no longer communicate properly with your server. Our internal investigation indicates that your server is not (yet) configured to support the required updated security protocols.

Solution

Fortunately, there is a solution: on a Windows Server, you can configure which "protocols" are allowed to be used. While this is normally managed via the Windows Registry, there is a convenient tool that simplifies the process:

This free tool offers both a command-line interface and a graphical user interface (GUI), allowing you to choose whichever option suits your workflow best. Our system administrators recommend using the Best Practices template provided by the tool, as it works very effectively.

Recommended Action Plan

  1. Apply Configuration: Download the tool and apply the Best Practices template on your server.

  2. Reboot Server: A server reboot is required for these changes to take effect. We strongly advise performing this during off-peak hours when the server is not in active use.

  3. Verify Settings: After rebooting, you can verify your configuration using this online scanner:

If the scanner results show green, you can be confident that App4Sales will remain fully compatible with your server after future update cycles (e.g., "Patch Tuesday").

Please let us know once this has been completed or if you need further assistance.
